Our Regulatory Timeline is now live. It is a free tool that shows, on a single page, when EU obligations apply to electrical and electronic products, from batteries and packaging to radio equipment and cybersecurity.
Why we built it
The dates that matter to manufacturers, importers and distributors are spread across regulations, delegated acts, corrigenda and Commission guidance. Many depend on acts the Commission has not yet adopted, so they can move. Most compliance teams track them in spreadsheets that soon go out of date.
We wanted one page where you can see at a glance which obligations already apply, which are coming, and which dates are still uncertain.
What you will find
The first version covers six pieces of EU legislation and more than 60 dates:
- Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR)
- Battery Regulation (EU) 2023/1542
- Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (EU) 2024/1781, including the Digital Product Passport
- Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU (RED)
- Cyber Resilience Act (EU) 2024/2847 (CRA)
- RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU
The timeline shows only dates when obligations apply to economic operators. Deadlines for the Commission or Member States are left out, so every mark is something a company has to act on. Each description follows the wording of the legal text and cites the article it comes from.
How it works
Each piece of legislation has its own row, and every date is a mark on that row. A Today line moves forward on its own, so the page always shows where you stand.
- Grey marks are obligations that already apply.
- Purple marks are obligations still to come.
- Amber dashed marks are dates that can move, because they depend on an act the Commission has not yet adopted. The details explain which act and its status.
Click any mark to read the obligation and the article it comes from. Use zoom and the scroll bar to look further ahead or back, and the legislation selector to show only the rules that apply to your products. Click the name of a legislation to open its text on EUR-Lex.
Below the timeline, the Updates section lists recent developments for each legislation, such as new delegated acts, Commission guidance and proposals in progress. It shows the date of our last review. We check the timeline every month.
Tested before launch
Before making the timeline public, we used it ourselves for a few days. We checked every date and description against the official texts, adjusted the wording to follow the legal text more closely, and refined the layout so that it reads well on both desktop and mobile.
Important note
The Regulatory Timeline is intended as guidance only and does not constitute legal advice. Dates and descriptions are summaries, and some dates depend on acts that have not yet been adopted. Always check the official texts on EUR-Lex and the European Commission’s pages before making compliance decisions.
Version history
We will keep improving the tool. This section records changes to the tool itself, such as new features, new legislation and design changes. The newest version is at the top.
